EDIT: Remember that guy? Just to let you know (better now then never!), it won the second place, so IrisDesert let me keep the design. But I'm finally ready to let it go now!
To be honest, that makes me a little nervous, but I'm going to try an auction to sell it so I can buy soon the material for my next cosplay.~

After three days of work (you can ask Nebquerna, she heard my whinings all that time! |'D ), I can finally present you my entry for IrisDesert's contest! The task was to redesign her dragon character Oasis using three key-words: night sky, oases and desert. The character had also to be elegant, but strong too.

We also had few doodles of her for Iris to help us imagine her physical appareance. I tried to keep the global shape as best as possible (and... boy, I was so rusty... I definitely didn't draw enough lately!). I gave her large paws (well, that's what I intended!) to keep her from soaking in the sand. Then I tried to get inspiration from egyptian clothing and jewelries, especially for the tail fan. I drew it circular, just as the egyptian fans look, and to recall palm trees.

As I was progressing, I was clearly seeing the dragon a dark sand color. I put green for the feathers for a bit of contrast and to recall luxuriant vegetation of oases.

The night sky in it isn't very easy to see. I just added small discreet spots here and there while thinking of stars!

I'm sorry though, there are much more colors than I was planning first. >.>

I realized I don't even have a complete reference like this of any of my own characters... I really need to do that soon!
